Congratulations to Paperboard Packaging Council on being named among the very best organizations that go above and beyond their tax-exempt purpose to improve society and our quality of life in America and abroad.

This has been a very trying year for associations, but even amid a months-long pandemic, associations are proving that positive change can happen. More than ever, the Power of Associations is on full display in this year’s award-winning programs, providing tangible evidence that associations will help lead the way toward economic and societal recovery in the months ahead.

TICCIT ACCENT

TICCIT IS
AWARD WINNING

Created by members of the Paperboard Packaging Council in 2010, TICCIT (pronounced “ticket”) stands for trees into cartons, cartons into trees. TICCIT is an outreach and education program for school- aged children that highlights the renewability and sustainability of paper and paperboard packaging.

The TICCIT program teaches students that trees are a sustainable crop just like fruits and veggies, highlights the many uses for trees and paperboard packaging, and underscores the importance of recycling. TICCIT supports industry growth, debunks myths about sustainability, increases employee engagement, and builds community. The program takes less than an hour, but the impact lasts a lifetime.

Through the power of Association, PPC transformed the idea of TICCIT into a widespread program that now reaches more than 40,000 individuals annually. A dedicated Board of Directors supported the investment in the program, enabling the launch of a brand-new website earlier this year (ticcit.info) in order to make the information more accessible to youth organizations and sponsors across the county.

The Paperboard Packaging Council is honored to be among this year's winners of the 2020 ASAE Power of A Awards, the highest industry honors for associations. The TICCIT program earned a Gold award for its ability to strengthen our community and the world.

DID YOU KNOW?

There are nearly 64,000 trade and professional associations in the U.S., representing literally every industry, profession and interest that one can name.

Associations make significant daily contributions to American life. They are an essential part of our national, state, and local economies. They create jobs in every state. Beyond their economic impact, however, are vital roles in educating the nation’s workforce, and developing voluntary industry standards to keep families safe. They are shining examples of inclusion and civil discourse, illustrating how America works best when we work together. To help associations tell the story of how they strengthen America and the world, ASAE created The Power of A.

WHAT IS THE POWER OF A?

The Power of A was created in 2009 as a campaign to educate the presidential administration and Congress about associations, their role in society, and the expertise they lend to the policymaking process. Since its formation, however, The Power of A has become an industry-wide brand and messaging platform and rally cry for associations to communicate their value to all outside audiences, not just policymakers. The long-term goal of The Power of A is to ensure a deeper understanding of what associations do, not just for the industries and professions they represent, but to improve society and our quality of life. The Power of A is also used by ASAE to position the association community as subject-matter experts who can meaningfully contribute to challenges we face in America and the world.

We're grateful to all of you, industry professionals and volunteers who helped us win the 2019 ASAE Power of A Gold Award! The honor for our TICCIT program is a true testament to how associations come together to solve problems.
